The Athletic Director reports directly to the President in all matters concerning the athletic program of the school.

Supervision of Athletic Mission

  • Supports mission, tradition, and history of St. Pius X Catholic High School
  • Ensures a Christ-centered athletic environment for all sports
  • Ensures prayer before all athletic contests
  • Ensures appropriate activities surrounding athletic contests including music and behavior
  • Displays Catholic-Christian leadership in all aspects of life
  • Has working knowledge of school policies as they are articulated in the school’s faculty and student handbooks
  • Recruits, cultivates, manages the Athletic Association’s operations
  • Nurtures an environment of fair play and good sportsmanship
  • Ensures positive image of St. Pius X Catholic High School

Supervision of Athletics Programs

  • Adheres to policies of the Archdiocese of Atlanta, St. Pius X Catholic High School, and the Georgia High School Association
  • Supports all academic policies of the school
  • Manages all necessary forms for eligibility and notifies coaches of ineligible athletes according to policy
  • Finds, recruits, and recommends coaches to the President and Principal for hire according to policy
  • Coordinates game day planning and operations

Supervision of Coaches

  • Ensures membership for all coaches within state coaching associations
  • Conducts pre and post-season meetings with all head coaches to become familiar with program’s coaching philosophy; to evaluate leadership performance, professional development, parent communication, inventory, finances, and team policies to include lettering requirements and team rules
  • Provides mentor leadership for all new coaches
  • Trains coaches for triage of injured players and follows up communication with parents
  • Coordinates with Human Resources for hiring procedures for new coaches

Supervision of Athletes

  • Trains coaches to effectively disciple their student-athletes to abide in Christ
  • Completes and submits all necessary eligibility forms to the Georgia High School Association
  • Ensures year-round athletic training for ALL athletes within the guidelines of the Georgia High School Association
  • Works with coaches, student-athletes, counselors, and parents to promote athletic exposure for the collegiate recruitment of student-athletes

Supervision of Use of Athletic Facilities

  • Coordinates and schedules athletic facilities for games and practices for all programs
  • Frequently inspects home facilities and makes suggestions for repair/improvement to the administration
  • Participates in the planning and acquisitions of new athletic facilities
  • Coordinates with Director of Operations for game preparation and clean-up

Supervision of Athletic Finances

  • Develops and evaluates the athletic portion of the school budget
  • Oversees the administration of the athletic budget
  • Places orders and maintains inventory of athletic materials, supplies, and uniforms
  • Manages transparent application of athletic department supplements
  • Develops a budget and schedule for uniform procurement and replacement
  • Supervises concession operations and budget

Supervision of Transportation and Lodging

  • Coordinates with head coaches to meet the transportation needs of the Athletic Department
  • Ensures compliance with all safe environment training for all trips

Supervision of Athletic Communications

  • Manages coach, parent, and student communication needs and efficacy
  • Promotes clear communication in social media and on website for all teams
  • Ensures unity of message and promotion of St. Pius X Catholic High School to media

Note: The AD candidate will preferably have a Masters Degree in a related field (bachelor’s degree required) and a trajectory of experience that prepares the candidate for this high-level position.
