Sophomore Joins 2018 Georgia All-State Senior Men's Chorus

Monday, January 29, 2018

Congratulations to Daniel Buckley, tenth grade chorus member, who successfully passed two statewide auditions to become a member of the 2018 Georgia All-State Senior Men’s Chorus!

Each year, the all-state chorus event is sponsored by the Georgia Music Educators Association. Thousands of chorus students, grades 7-12, throughout the state of Georgia participate in a rigorous two-part audition process to be selected for this highest honor in choral music.

For the first audition Daniel was required to prepare an art song solo, sing the major, minor, and chromatic scales, and sight sing three passages. After passing the first audition, he was assigned to the Senior Men’s Chorus. The second audition was an aural test on the music to be sung by that chorus at the all-state event.

Daniel will now travel to Athens in February to rehearse and perform a concert with the best high school singers in the state! Ms. Turek, St. Pius X choral director, is so very proud of the work and rehearsal time Daniel put in to earning this honor! He is an outstanding musician and leader in the SPX Men’s Ensemble.
