A quick update about life on campus...

On Tuesday, November 30, the Theology Department held its annual Penance Service. Twenty-four priests from throughout the Archdiocese of Atlanta joined us and students, faculty, and staff were invited to participate in the Sacrament of Penance as we begin the Advent season. We are so grateful to be able to offer this day for our community and grateful that so many priests were able to join us. What a blessing! The Theology Department also invited the school community to join them in their annual Rise Against Hunger Service Day. Every student participated during theology class, packaging meals for those in need in Haiti. This year, students packaged 37,800 meals in two days.

The volleyball team finished the season with a 52-1 record which garnered them the number two spot in the nation and a state title. The girls' cross country team won its third straight state championship this year behind the leadership of Coach Ryan McClay and junior Grace Von Biberstein. McClay was named Georgia Coach of the Year by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The boys' cross country team raced to a state runner-up finish. Competition cheer and football won region championships and softball placed second in the region and again qualified for the state playoffs.

St. Pius X Catholic theatre students had an educational and inspiring five-day trip to New York City in November.  The students stayed in the heart of Times Square and took in numerous sights of the city including the Rockefeller Center, Central Park and the 9/11 Memorial Park, while also attending mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral. In addition to sightseeing, the group saw three Broadway productions and participated in two professional Broadway workshops led by Broadway performers from Chicago and Sweet Charity.

Our band, guitar, and dance students shared their talents with us last week as part of the Christmas Concert series. Be sure to mark your calendars and join us for the final piece of the series, the theatre performance on Wednesday, December 8 at 7 p.m. Hope to see you there!
