Recently, the St. Pius X theatre department took the show on the road and participated in the GHSA State Competition for the first time in the history of the program. Congratulations to Advanced Drama Company students Chloe Burgoon and Gracie Rosenberg, who were just named semifinalists in the national essay competition, Democracyworks.    Democracyworks is the Educational Theatre Association's student essay competition sponsored by Concord Theatricals. Students have submitted incredible artwork in a variety of categories including drawing, mixed media, photography, 2-D design, sculpture/ceramics, and painting for the 17th Annual Juried Visual Arts Exhibition. This year, the exhibit was judged by Melissa Harshman, printmaing professor at UGA's Lamar Dodd School of Art. Students in the intermediate guitar class recently completed a songwriting project where they were tasked with writing and recording original songs. The students primarily used SoundTrap but also had access to Pro Tools in the classroom. Congratulations to our Advanced Guitar Ensemble, who by invitation, participated in Georgia's first ever Honors Guitar Ensemble. They performed "Vals de la Culebra, a commissioned work by Darin Au. Their video premiered February 10, 2021. The Honors Guitar Ensemble included the best of the best from across Georgia. St. Pius X was given the unique honor of having all of our students invited to perform, as opposed to just a few of our students. To view their performance, please click here.
