This year we had quite a few students receive recognition at the Congressional Art Competition in both the 6th and 4th districts. In the 6th district presided over by Karen C. Handel, senior Logan Maiolo won third place, while Seniors Shannon Kang and Sophia DeLurgio won honorable mentions. Congratulations to Daniel Buckley, tenth grade chorus member, who successfully passed two statewide auditions to become a member of the 2018 Georgia All-State Senior Men’s Chorus! Congratulations to Elizabeth Patton and Jessica Rao, Film and Photo Club members, who have both had photographs selected for the 2017 Drexel University High School Photography Contest. The Christmas Concert featuring Band, Chorus & Guitar is Wednesday, December 6 and Thursday, December 7 at 7 p.m. in the Young Center for Performing Arts. Tickets go on sale in the cafeteria during all lunch periods Thursday, November 30 - Friday, December 1 and Monday, December 4 - Thursday, December 7 and are $5. All SPX students get one free ticket.

The first St. Pius X Fall Chorus Concert will be held on Thursday, November 2 at 7 p.m. in the Young Center for Performing Arts. This is a FREE concert - no tickets required. The Women's and Men's Vocal Ensembles of the SPX Chorus will be performing classical pieces and pop songs along with the Pius Players Musical Ensemble who will be performing Broadway and Disney hits. St. Pius X Chorus Director Millie Turek served as pianist for the Atlanta Young Singers on the NPR radio show From the Top, hosted by acclaimed pianist Christopher O'Riley (pictured below with Turek). Save the date for the third annual Lion's Den Marching Band Invitational on October 21. Featuring 13 bands from across the state, we will also enjoy food trucks and vendors! The event will begin at 2 p.m. with a $10 admission fee ($7 for students and senior citizens). We hope to see you there!
