Meet Our New Department Chairs

The role of Department Chair is to act in a leadership role and serve as a member on the Academic Council, striving to coordinate the overall academic program. The chair holds regular meetings and acts as a liaison between the department and the Studies Office. For the 2021-2022 academic year, we have five new chairs for the Computer Science and Business, Fine Arts, English, Theology, and World Languages Departments.

Computer Science and Business
Tonnie Cassandra
Clemson University: M.Ed. Teaching and Learning STEM Education
Kennesaw State University: B.S. Mathematics Education, Minor in Computer Science
Currently teaches AP Computer Science A, AP Computer Science Principles, Computer Programming 1, Web Design, Computer Applications
Years at St. Pius X: 2
Married to John Cassandra, a fourth grade teacher and football/baseball coach. The couple is currently expecting their first child (Valerie).


Fine Arts
Ian LaBreck
Georgia College and State University: Currently studying for Masters in Music Education. Expect to be completed in August 2022
University of Georgia: Bachelors in Music Education
Currently teaches Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Music Appreciation, AP Music Theory

Lindsay Dent
Valdosta State University: M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction: Accomplished Teaching
Berry College: English Major, Minor in Secondary Education
Currently teachers English 1 Honors and AP Language and Composition. Previously taught English 1 CPA and American Literature/Writing CPA
Years at St. Pius X: 13
Married to EJ Brosas with a 15 month old daughter (Adeleine) and Chow Chow (Lexie). 


Lindsey Farrell
Walden University: M.S. Nonprofit Management and Leadership
College of William and Mary: B.A. Religious Studies
Currently teaches: Upper level Theology: Catholicism and Major Faiths of the World (juniors), Apologetics & Life Ethics (seniors), Catholic Social Teaching (seniors)
Years at St. Pius X: 6
Married to Greg and lives in Decatur. The couple enjoys exploring different parts of the city, playing board games with friends, and enjoying the weather nearly year-round on their front porch.

Currently teaches all levels of Spanish 1-4 (CP, CPA, H)
