On April 30, the DeKalb Rotary Club hosted Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) students and teachers for a celebration over Zoom. Congratulations to Cody Nelson and Ms. Carrie Stockard, who represented St. Pius X this year. The STAR program honors Georgia's outstanding high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development.  During the past 63 years, the STAR Program has honored more than 28,000 high school seniors who have in turn chosen their STAR Teachers to share in this recognition.

In addition to being STAR student, Cody was one of five DeKalb System winners and will move forward to representing the county at a regional level. He was also one of the four Alonzo L. McDonald, Sr. winners, the four students with the highest scores. This award has a thirty-eight year history and is awarded by Mr. McDonald’s estate in honor of his lifelong value of scholarship and academic achievement.

Congratulations, Cody and Ms. Stockard, on this well deserved recognition.
