Attention Students! Change in Works of Mercy Program
In light of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have come to the realization that many opportunities for service for our students have been cancelled or postponed indefinitely. We have a two-fold request of our student body that can hopefully relieve some of the stress surrounding completing the service requirement for this school year:
First, we are changing the requirement for this semester from every student turning in two projects (for a total of 5) to every student only turning in one project for the semester (for a yearly total of only 4 projects). This project may be a Work of Mercy OR a choice project. As a reminder, you may use projects from the fall semester for this semester's project (ex. I completed a service project in October that I never turned in first semester. I am able to use that as my one project for the spring).
Second, we are extending the due date to Monday, May 4th, 2020. Our hope is that extending the deadline gives students more time to complete a project if they have not already. We understand this deadline is encroaching in on final exams and AP exams, but we really feel strongly about giving students more time to complete a project. Campus Ministry will be doing our best in the coming weeks to make students aware of opportunities for service / hosting our own service opportunities here at school once we return.
If you have specific questions about the changes, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Bettencourt (email@example.com) or Mrs. Hatter (firstname.lastname@example.org). We will do our very best to answer your questions. If anything changes in the next few weeks, we will be sure to communicate how this affects the Works of Mercy requirement.
