Jeff Buckalew, Head Varisty Coach (jbuckalew@spx.org)
Buckalew enters his 4th year of as head coach of the varsity program.  He also serves as an assistant on the varsity wrestling staff.  

Isabel Ward, Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Isabel Ward has been involved in the game of lacrosse for over 15 years. She was a four year varsity starter at Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton, Florida and went on to play at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia as a member of the inaugural women’s lacrosse team, graduating in 2017. She now lives in Atlanta, Georgia and works as a nurse.

Emma Sveen, Coordinator of Girls' Lacrosse  (esveen@spx.org)

Coach Emma has over 15 years of competitive lacrosse experience. She competed nationally 7+ years as a starter on various select club teams in her home state of Colorado. Emma was a varsity starter for her high school, Kent Denver School, ranked 2nd in the state, garnering Defensive MVP and various athletic leadership awards. She both played for and coached Team Oslo (HioA), leading her team and winning the 2016 Norwegian National Championships. Emma went on to play with the Norwegian National Team and was awarded the 2016 National MVP for Women's Lacrosse by the Norwegian Lacrosse Association. Emma moved to Atlanta from NYC (along with her pug puppy, Phoebe) in July 2019, and outside of coaching at SPX, is currently pursuing both her JD and MBA at Emory.

Brooke Kremer,  JV Lacrosse Coach

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Brooke has lived and breathed lacrosse for as long as she can remember. After playing in high school and on regional all-star teams, she played on the inaugural women's team at Washington and Lee University. Mom of Patrick (SPX 2019) and Katherine (SPX 2021), she is excited to share her love of the game with the girls of St. Pius X. Brooke and her husband, Dan, live in Brookhaven and she works as a Regional Sales Manager at Dominion Diagnostics. This is Brooke's 5th year with the St. Pius X girls lacrosse team.
