The 2023 season is about to begin – do you want to be a Golden Lion Golfer?
If you missed the January 10th meeting with Coaches Elmore and Cook, make haste to come by and see Coach Cook in room 204. Registration for Q-School (golf team tryouts) ends January 27th, and the process begins just a few days after that. If you have questions, the coaches can certainly answer those for you as well!


PHILIP COOK
BOYS GOLF COACH AND PROGRAM ADVISOR

Education: BSEd in Social Science Education, University of Georgia (1996)
Courses Taught: AP & College Prep Economics, AP & College Prep World History, College Prep United States History, Ancient Civilizations, World Geography
Golf Experience and Affiliations:
Four years of California Interscholastic Federation (high school) experience at Newport Harbor High School in Southern California (1988-1991); Southern California Junior PGA Tour player (1990-1991); United States Golf Association member (1988-2016); National Association for Golf Coach Educators member (1999-present); Georgia State Golf Association member (2005), Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association member (2007-present).
Coaching Experience:
Coach Cook has guided the Golden Lion Golf Program since the spring of 1998. In that time, he has accomplished the following:
- Tournament Founder and Director of the Golden Lion Challenge hosted annually from 2000 to 2017
- Tournament Co-Founder of the Georgia-South Carolina Cup and Team Georgia Coordinator
- Founder of the annual Atlanta Archdiocese Cup, in place since 2000 with our sister school, Blessed Trinity
- Tournament Director of numerous Area, Region, and Sub-Region Championship Events
- Twenty of Coach Cook’s twenty-two boys teams have competed in the Georgia State Golf Championships
- Creator and first Head Coach of the SPX Girls Golf Program in 1999
- AAA State Championship host in 2013
- Architect of the GHSA’s State Sectional Post-Season Event and a major campaigner and proponent for the 36-hole State Championship Tournament implemented in 2017
- Georgia High School Golf Coaches Association Historian
- Mentor to numerous golf savvy St. Pius X Graduates

NIKKI ELMORE
ASSOCIATE HEAD BOYS GOLF COACH
Nikki Elmore is an alumni of St. Pius X, class of 2010, where she lettered for four years in golf. She went on to attend Berry College in Rome, where she captained the women’s golf team. After graduating from Berry, she worked for US Kids Golf, where she helped organize golf tournaments worldwide. Currently, Nikki is a Realtor in Atlanta with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Metro Brokers, and enjoys helping people buy and sell homes. Nikki is still playing golf for fun with a GSGA handicap of 4.2, and won the 2019 Women’s championship at Rivermont Golf Club while her fiancé Alex won the Men’s championship.
