Congratulations to the Golden Lions playing at the next level. Below are recent St. Pius X graduates who are continuing to play baseball at the college or professional level.

Grant Williams ‘14 plays 2B in the Boston Red Sox organization. He played baseball for Kennesaw State University for four years. He was named First Team All-Conference (Atlantic Sun Conference) in 2017. 

Quincy Nieporte ‘13 plays 1B in the Philadelphia Phillies organization. He played baseball for Tallahassee Community College (2014) and Florida State (2015-17) before being selected in the 2017 MLB draft. In 2017, Quincy was named ABCA Third Team All-American.

Griffin Benedict '05 is no longer playing baseball, but has been the bullpen catcher for the San Diego Padres since 2011. Griffin played two years of professional baseball in the Padres organization before his current role. He batted .342 during the four years that he played for Georgia Southern University.

Will Arnold '18 is an Outfielder for Oglethorpe University. During the 2018 summer, he played for the Prospect Bucks in the Sunbelt League Prospect Division.

Will David '18 is an Infielder for Samford University.

Wesley Diamantis '18 plays 1B for Birmingham Southern University. During the 2018 summer, he played for the Prospect Patriots in the Sunbelt League Prospect Division.

Preston Jenkins '17 is a Pitcher for Birmingham Southern. During the 2018 summer, he played for the Prospect Bucks in the Sunbelt League Prospect Division.

Kennet Sorenson ‘17 is a C/OF at the University of Nebraska. During the 2018 summer, he played for the Atlanta Crackers of the Sunbelt League. 

Garrett Gooden ‘16 is a Pitcher for Georgia Tech. During the 2017 summer, Garrett played for the Green Bay Bullfrogs of the Northwoods League and the Lexington Blowfish of the Coastal Plain League.

Chris McNulty ‘16 is a 1B/DH for Sewanee: The University of the South.

Sam Czabala ‘15 is a pitcher for Xavier University. He has been named to the Big East All-Academic Team twice (2016 & 2017). During the summer of 2016, Sam played for the Riverhead Tomcats of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League.

Will Herman ‘15 is a 2B/P for Appalachian State University.

Nick Spear ‘15 is a relief pitcher for Mercer University. During the summertime, he played for the Lima Locos of the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (2016) and Edenton Steamers of the Coastal Plain League (2017).

Peter Zyla ‘14 is an OF/C at Duke University. During the summer of 2016, Peter played for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks in the Cape Cod League.
