ANDY HARLIN, Head Coach
Coach Harlin returns to St. Pius X as the Head Coach for the 2023 season. He has been teaching and coaching in Archdiocese of Atlanta Schools since 1989. Coach Harlin was at St. Pius X from 1989-2001, serving 8 years as the head baseball coach, and returned to the program for the 2022 season. He was the head coach at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School (2003-2021), where he led the baseball team to three state championships, two state runner-up finishes and 11 region championships. He has received over 30 Coach-of-the-Year honors, including five state coach of the year awards from the Georgia Dugout Club and three state coach of the year awards from the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association, was named Southeast Region Coach-of-the-Year in 2014 and 2015 by the American Baseball Coaches Association and, in 2019, was inducted into the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame. Coach Harlin is in the top 10 All-Time in the state of Georgia with over 600 career wins. He holds strength and conditioning certifications through EXOS in Performance Specialist Training, Speed Training, Advanced Strength & Power Training, Using Data for Group Training, and Integrating Nutrition In Training. Coach Harlin has also been a speaker at multiple conventions and clinics around the country. He teaches Physical Educations, serves as an Assistant Athletic Director and is the Head Girls Flag Football Coach at St. Pius X. Coach Harlin lives in Atlanta with his wife Jamie and their two rescue dogs.
KEVIN KSIONZYK, Assistant Varsity Coach
Coach Ksionzyk (SPX '05) returns for the 2023 season, his eleventh season as a coach for the Golden Lions. Prior to becoming the Pitching Coach in 2021, he served as Head Freshman Coach (2019), Head 8th Grade Coach (2016-18) and Assistant 8th Grade Coach (2009-12). He was a standout player for St. Pius X and a member of the first team in school history to advance to the state quarterfinals (2004). Coach Ksionzyk played baseball at Pitt Community College (Winterville, NC). He is a Computer Science teacher and Assistant Freshman Football Coach at St. Pius X. Coach Ksionzyk lives in Peachtree Corners with his wife Marie (SPX '06) and their daughter Thea (2).
TOM KSIONZYK, Assistant Varsity Coach
Coach Ksionzyk returns for his twelfth season with the Golden Lions baseball program. He was previously an assistant varsity coach (2006-16) and Head Middle School Gold Coach (2022) for the Golden Lions. Before St. Pius X, Coach Ksionzyk coached baseball at Decatur High School for five years, three as the head coach. He also has experience coaching travel baseball. Coach Ksionzyk and his wife Anne have two sons, Kevin (SPX '05), and Brady, and two grandchildren.
MIKE LANCASTER, Assistant Varsity Coach
This year (2023) is Coach Lancaster's 44th year of coaching and 13th season with the Golden Lions baseball program. Additionally, Coach Lancaster a Dean of Students, Head Varsity Wrestling Coach and Assistant Varsity Football Coach for St. Pius X. Coach Lancaster spent 35 years teaching and coaching in the metropolitan Atlanta area before retiring from the Gwinnett County Public School System in 2014. Coach Lancaster and his wife, Lisa, have two children, a son, Marc, and a daughter, Laura.
BLAISE WANNEMACHER, Head Junior Varsity Coach
Coach Wannemacher (SPX ‘06) returns to the Golden Lion baseball program for the 2023 season. Previously he was the Head Junior Varsity Coach (2021), Head 8th Grade Coach (2013-15) and Assistant 8th Grade Coach (2010-12) for the Golden Lions. Additionally, he has coached football for the Golden Lions for the past 14 seasons and served as the Head 7th Grade Basketball Coach (2012-13) and Head 8th Grade Basketball Coach (2011-12). He is the Director of Operations for St. Pius X and lives in Lilburn with his wife Lisette (SPX ‘06) and their three children, Pace (9), Palmer (7) and Annie (3).
Middle School Coaches
JAY KAPP, Head Middle School Navy Coach
The 2023 season will be Coach Kapp's (SPX '94) thirteenth season in the Golden Lions baseball program. He has been a Head Junior Varsity Coach (2001-04) and a Head Middle School Coach (2000, 2005-06, 2018-present). Additionally, he was the Assistant Varsity Coach for the Golden Lions Fastpitch Softball team for five seasons (2002-04, 2006-07). When not on the diamond, you can find Coach Kapp working at Kapp Koncepts, a digital marketing and graphic design firm he founded in 2001. Coach Kapp and his wife, Jenniffer (SPX ‘94), live in Dunwoody with their three children: Charlie (SPX '22), Madeline (14) and Julia (8).
BRIAN OGLE, Assistant Middle School Navy Coach
Coach Ogle (SPX ‘06), returns to the Golden Lions baseball program for his twelfth season (Middle School Assistant Coach (2007-12; 2016-18, 2022), Assistant Freshman Coach (2019), Head JV/Freshman Coach (2020)). While a student at St. Pius X, Coach Ogle was a member of the baseball team. In addition to coaching at St. Pius X, he has experience coaching travel baseball. He works at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church and lives in Sandy Springs with his wife Heather and their three dogs.
CHRIS McDONALD, Assistant Middle School Navy Coach
Coach McDonald (SPX '03) joins the Golden Lions coaching staff for the 2023 season. He was a standout player for St. Pius X and was a member of the first region championship team (2001) in school history. Coach McDonald lives in Atlanta with his wife Mary (SPX '03) and their two children: Joshua (13) and Lillian (10).
WILL ARNOLD, Head Middle School Gold Coach
Coach Arnold (SPX '18) returns to his alma mater as a coach for the 2023 season. He went on to play baseball for Oglethorpe University, where he earned Second Team All-Conference honors for his senior season. Coach Arnold works for State Street and lives in Tucker.
JACKSON DOYLE, Assistant Middle School Gold Coach
Coach Doyle (SPX '18) joins the Golden Lions coaching staff for the 2023 season. He was a three year baseball letterman while a student at St. Pius X. Coach Doyle works for myDigitalOffice and lives in Atlanta.
PETE WARNER, Assistant Middle School Gold Coach
Coach Warner joins the St. Pius X Baseball coaching staff for the 2023 season. He has over a decade of baseball coaching experience, both recreational and travel. Coach Warner works for Warner-Luce and lives in Brookhaven with his wife Julie and their children: Sarah (SPX '24) and Jason (SPX '21), a student at Georgia Tech.
