The St. Pius X Band Program focuses on developing students' musicality through performance through concert and athletic ensembles. The band program consists of symphonic band, jazz band, percussion ensembles, the Marching Golden Lions (and color guard), and basketball pep band.
Students learn proper vocal techniques, read music and sight-sing, and perform vocal music of all genres and time periods, including sacred and secular classical, pop, folk, world music, Broadway, vocal a cappella, and more.
Dance courses are designed to teach the fundamentals of ballet, jazz, contemporary, and choreography. Students gain experience by performing in the annual Christmas Concert, Spring Dance Concert, and the NOVO Choreography Showcase.
Similar to a 4-year high school chorus or 4-year high school band program, students may take Beginning, then Intermediate, then Advanced Guitar for 4 years. Half the time is learning classical nylon string guitar, and half the time is learning rock songs on electric guitar, bass, drums, piano, and vocals.
The Theatre program offers interested students the opportunity to expand their theatre knowledge, practicing skills such as play analysis, character development, and acting technique. Classes focus on musical theatre, comedy, and drama.
The Visual Arts program offers many exciting opportunities for the interested student to find their passion and to excel including but not limited to drawing, graphic design, and painting to ceramics and sculpture.
