National Art Honor Society

What is the National Art Honor Society?

This is a group that will meet once every two weeks and whose aim is to foster an appreciation and understanding of art within the school community.

Students need to have completed one semester in a visual arts class and be actively enrolled in another art class either in the first semester or second semester of the year they join. Interested students must commit to attending meetings and contribute their time to outside community projects. Graduating seniors who are upstanding members will wear cords at their senior graduation.

This is a Nationally recognized society, and students will have to fulfill the following requirements to join:

  1. Students should maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.0. In their regular classes. In their Visual Arts classes, students should retain a GPA of 4.0.
  2. Students should have taken at least two semesters of Visual Arts classes.

Once selected to join, students should commit to:

  1. Attend all scheduled meetings.
  2. Be involved in at least ¾ of the scheduled school and community projects.
  3. All elected officers need to attend all scheduled meetings outside the regularly scheduled meetings.
  4. There is a $5.00 enrollment fee for each year a student is enrolled in the NAHS.

The cord and other items will be ordered in the participating student’s senior year as long as the student is in good standing and has attended the scheduled meetings.

All interested students should complete the application form and attach a copy of their transcript to Ms. Brannon.  Application forms can be found outside the art room.
