Advanced Drama Company Students Named Semifinalists in Democracyworks Competition
Congratulations to Advanced Drama Company students Chloe Burgoon and Gracie Rosenberg, who were just named semifinalists in the national essay competition, Democracyworks.
Democracyworks is the Educational Theatre Association's student essay competition sponsored by Concord Theatricals. The program was founded in 2009 to support and grow student advocacy on behalf of theatre and other arts education. Since then, hundreds of students have written essays on topics ranging from the importance of diversity to the value of theatre education in a democratic society. Each year's winner earns the right to take part in the National Arts Action Summit (formerly known as Arts Advocacy Day), in Washington, D.C., and visit with legislators to talk about the value of arts education.
The competition continues and we will find out more on March 6. Congratulations!
