Admissions FAQ
DOES ST. PIUS X ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?
No. St. Pius X only accepts domestic applications from US system schools. This is a policy of the Archdiocese of Atlanta.
IS THE SSAT REQUIRED THIS YEAR?
Yes. The SSAT is required for all 9th grade students applying for the 2025-2026 school year. The data is primarily used for course level placement. To share your students scores, please follow these instructions.
WHAT TEST SCORES ARE REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION?
Test scores are one important aspect of the admissions process, but they are never the sole basis for a decision. We review each application in its entirety. Academic performance (grades), teacher evaluations, student behaviors, extracurricular involvement (school, church, community) are all considered in admissions decisions.
IS THERE A MINIMUM SCORE REQUIRED ON THE SSAT TEST FOR ADMISSIONS INTO ST. PIUS X?
No. We have four different class levels at St. Pius X and we take students with different ability levels. This is one of the things that we pride ourselves on at St. Pius X. Our four class levels are Advanced Placement, Honors, Accelerated, and College Preparatory.
IF WE TAKE THE SSAT MORE THAN ONCE, DO YOU SUPERSCORE THE RESULTS?
Yes, we superscore the results. However, we do not recommend taking the test more than once or twice.
HOW MANY OPENINGS DO YOU ANTICIPATE FOR NEXT YEAR?
We will enroll 275 freshmen next fall. We do not accept applicants for the senior class. We will have limited openings in the 10th and 11th grades (based on attrition).
HOW MANY STUDENTS APPLY FOR THESE OPENINGS?
The number varies each year, but (unfortunately) we always have many more qualified applicants than we have openings.
WHO MAKES THE DECISIONS?
Our admissions committee is comprised of administrators, counselors, and teachers. This committee recommends students for admission to the principal.
ARE INTERVIEWS REQUIRED?
No. If we need additional information we will contact you.
WOULD IT BE HELPFUL FOR MY FAMILY TO ARRANGE A MEETING WITH THE ADMISSIONS STAFF?
Unfortunately, we are unable to meet with students and parents to discuss admissions. You are welcome to take a group tour which is followed by a Q & A session. Your student is encouraged to attend a Shadow Day. You can sign up for a Shadow Day or Tour on our Admission website.
WOULD ADDITIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS HELP MY STUDENT?
No. We only read the three required evaluations.
DOES IT HELP IF MY CHILD IS INVOLVED IN EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES?
Yes. Because our intention is to develop the total person we seek students who will benefit from and become involved in a variety of activities.
ARE SIBLINGS AND APPLICANTS WHOSE PARENTS ARE ST. PIUS X ALUMNI GIVEN PREFERENCE FOR ADMISSION?
They are not guaranteed a place but are given extra consideration.
