Counseling
Welcome to the Counseling Department
At St. Pius X, our Counseling Department is dedicated to supporting every student in achieving academic success, emotional well-being, and readiness for the future. Grounded in our Catholic mission, we approach counseling with compassion, respect, and a commitment to the dignity of every individual. With five full-time counselors, we provide personalized guidance and resources to help students thrive in high school and beyond. Our counselors work with students from the time they step on campus through graduation.
We take pride in providing a compassionate and collaborative approach to counseling, rooted in our mission to prepare students for lives of meaning, service, and leadership.
Academic Counseling
We support students by ensuring they are on track, challenging themselves appropriately for their goals and planning their high school journey with a purpose.
- Class Planning: Counselors provide a comprehensive perspective by assisting with four-year academic mapping, ensuring that every course selection aligns with the student's long-term future goals.
- Organization: Assistance is provided through personalized study skills strategies designed to help students manage their coursework and academic responsibilities effectively.
- Time Management: As part of academic planning, counselors help students balance their schedules to ensure they can meet their goals without undue stress.
- Absences: This is listed as a key area where counselors provide academic help, ensuring that student performance and progress are supported even when challenges with attendance arise.
Social/Emotional Counseling
Our licensed and certified counselors are here to support students and families with social and emotional challenges. From navigating stress and anxiety to processing life’s difficulties, we offer a trusted space for guidance. When needed, we connect families with external professionals for additional support.
- Social-Emotional Wellness: Proactive support for stress, anxiety, resilience building, and crisis response.
- Integrated Care: We see how wellness impacts grades (academic support) and application stress (college support), addressing the root cause, not just the symptom.
