St. Pius X Golden Lions
St. Pius Wrestlers end the season strong!

The St. Pius x Varsity Wrestlers continue to set records. This year, the very young team had a Varsity Dual record of 37-12, which is the best team record in school history. The Varsity Grapplers also brought home several pieces of hardware, including the following:
• First Place at the Monroe Area Dual Tournament
• Second place at several events:
o Team Areas, Traditional Areas, our own Thanksgiving “Turkey Dual” tournament, Westminster Dual Tournament
• Third Place at the Woodward dual Tournament, and at the Cass Dual Tournament
In addition to these, St. Pius X was the highest scoring Georgia team at The Prep Slam Tournament, placing 7th overall in the national prep school wrestling tournament.
On Saturday February 6th, Coach Lancaster entered 13 wrestlers into the Region 6-AAAA Traditional Area Tournament. By the end of the day, 10 wrestlers were positioned to fight for 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. Five of the SPX Grapplers earned First Place in Areas, which is a school record! All ten advanced to Sectionals and five emerged to make it to States on February 11th, 12th & 13th.

Senior Zack Ramirez 64-5, Fifth at State
Senior Eric Long 32-8, Fifth at State
Junior Jack Marsh 66-6, Second at State
Junior Kellen Haynes 51-24
Sophomore Max Spearman 68-10, Second at State (most wins ever recorded by a St. Pius X wrestler)
