Volleyball Team completes marathon week with 12-0 record.
September 21st, 2013

The girls varsity volleyball team began the week coming off a heart breaking home loss to McIntosh, but had been playing at a very high level.  Their endurance was put to the test with a 12 match week.  The team came out victorious in all of those matches.  Tuesday they moved their area record to 4-0 with a pair of area wins.  Thursday they travelled to Milton for their senior night.  In the Lady Lions opening game of the night they defeated the #3 ranked AAAAAA Johns Creek in a revenge game.  In this match Leah Hardeman broke the school record for kills in a match with 28.  All of the others on the top five performances for kills in school history were set in a 5 set match.  Leah had her 28 kills in only three sets.

The team then travelled to Knoxville, TN to participate in the Rocky Top Classic tournament.  Their 8-0 tournament performance against teams from Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky led them to the championship.  Leah Hardeman continued her great week as the tournament MVP.  The team also received strong performances from libero Ryan Boykin, setters Katrina Connolly and Molly Gunn and middle blocker Katherine Maloof.  One of the nice factors in the tournament win was the contribution from every player up and down the roster.  The Lady Lions are next in action Tuesday with a pair of home area matches: Decatur at 5pm and North Hall at 7pm.
