Volleyball Team Sweeps Five at Northview
August 23rd, 2014

The volleyball team raised their season record to 14-1 with a clean sweep of the Northview Playday.  The Lady Lions won all ten sets they played to defeat Lassiter, Northview, Mount Paran Christian, Woodstock and Landmark Christian in two sets each.  Again a balanced offensive attack led the Lions.  Clare Naughton had the team lead with 24 kills, Camila Zimmerman added 20 more.  Kathryn Maloof and Taylor Fazzone had 18 and 16 kills each while hitting over .500 for the day.  Chloe Anderton also hit over .500 for the day and Jessica Onuorah, who led the team in kills going into the day, added 16 more.  Aubrie Lombardo had her best performance of the year with 54 assists on the day.  Blocking was a strength and was led by Kathryn Maloof and Katie Parnell.  Maloof tied the school record for blocks in a match against Mount Paran with 5.0, getting 4.5 of those in a dominating first set.  The defense was a balanced effort as well, Camila Zimmerman led with 27 digs, Ryan Boykin had 26 and Molly Gunn had 20 to lead the team.  Your next chance to catch the Lions in action is Tuesday at Woodward in a best of five set match.  The next home games are a rare Wednesday pair where the team faces Chattahoochee and North Oconee.
