                                                                   2018 High School Spring Tryouts

Tryouts for all rising 9th-12th graders will be held on May 1-3 from 4:00-6:00pm. All players should meet in the hitting facility 15 minutes prior to our 4:00pm start time.(The hitting facility is located behind right field of the "dirt"softball field. Directions can be found by clicking on the "Field" tab located on the top left of this screen.)  Players should bring, softball equipment (glove & face mask required, helmet and bat optional if you do not already have one) and cleats (molded or turf shoes preferred), tennis shoes, water and a current Health Physical. If you currently have a physical on file from last season (Middle School/ Varsity Team), then you do not need one at this time. If you will be NEW to St. Pius X Softball program, I will need a physical from you prior to May 1st.

(ALL PROSPECTIVE PLAYERS MUST HAVE A PHYSICAL ON FILE BEFORE ATTENDING WORKOUTS/TRYOUTS. YOU MAY GIVE TO ME PRIOR TO OR ON JUNE 5TH.  NO PHYSICAL/ NO WORKOUTS/ TRYOUTS) 

 Middle School Tryouts 2018

 St. Pius X Middle School Tryouts will be held on 2 separate days. You will only need to attend 1 tryout.

June 12: 11:00am-12:30pm

July 11: 6:00pm-7:30pm

Please email Amie McDougal @ amcdougal@spx.org with the tryout date you plan on attending. Each player will need to bring a glove, bat, tennis shoes and water bottle. Our softball program has moved to a 100% turf field so please do not bring metal spikes. Molded cleats, turf or tennis shoes will work.

Plan on meeting in our indoor hitting facility at the start of each tryout. Tennis shoes or turf shoes must be worn in the hitting facility. We will hit then move to the field so don’t forget your cleats/ turf shoes. Softball pants, long socks and a t-shirt is the appropriate attire for tryouts.

2018 Summer Workouts 

Summer workouts will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:00am-9:00am starting June 5th, 2018. Summer Strength & Conditioning workouts will be for rising 9th-12thgraders ONLY. Summer Workouts will be conducted by our Strength & Conditioning Coaches. Workouts will be held on the Football Field. Workout attire includes tennis shoes, shorts/athletic tights, t-shirt. Please bring your own water.

Immediately after Strength & Conditioning workouts there will be Softball Workouts from 9:00am-10:15am. Softball workouts are for our Middle School and High School Softball players. These workouts will focus on improving hitting, fielding, throwing and base running. Please bring your softball equipment including; glove, face mask, helmet and bat if you have one, cleats or turf shoes.

Welcome to the home page for softball at St. Pius X Catholic High School. Our program emphasizes teamwork, character, and discipline in a championship environment.  The Lady Lions won the Region 5-AAA Championship in 2008, 2009, and 2010 and have advanced to the State playoffs in each of the last nine years, playing in the Elite Eight in 2007 and the Final Four in 2008.  Some of our players now play at the collegiate level.  Please use the links on the left to explore our webpage.

2017 Region Alignment
Our GHSA region alignment for the 2017 Season is region 8-AAAA.  Region members will play each other twice during the regular season.  Regular season results will determine Region Tournament seeding.  The top four finishers from the Region Tournament will advance to the First Round of the GHSA State Softball Tournament, with the Elite 8 to be held in Columbus, GA at the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics.
