St. Pius X Golden Lions
MIKE LANCASTER, HEAD FRESHMAN COACH
Coach Lancaster is beginning his 37th year of coaching and 6th season with the St. Pius X football team. Additionally, Coach Lancaster is beginning his second year as the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach and 6th season as an assistant baseball coach for the Golden Lions. Coach Lancaster spent 35 years teaching and coaching in the metropolitan Atlanta area, retiring from the Gwinnett County Public School System in June of 2014. Coach Lancaster and his wife, Lisa, have two children, a son, Marc, and a daughter, Laura.
DOUG WAGNER, ASSISTANT FRESHMAN COACH
Coach Wagner begins his second season with the Golden Lions after 33 years at Parkview High School, where he taught mathematics, served as mathematics department chair, and coached football, baseball and wrestling. Coach Wagner graduated from Georgia Tech and earned his M. Ed., Ed. S, and Ph.D. from Georgia State University in Mathematics Education. He wrestled his freshman year at North Carolina State University where they were ACC Champions. Coach Wagner played football and was a student assistant coach at Georgia Tech where he worked with Pepper Rodgers, Bill Curry, Norm Van Brocklin, Romeo Crennel, and Steve Spurrier. Coach Wagner is very excited and feels extremely honored to continue his work as a Mathematics Teacher and freshman defensive coordinator at St. Pius X. He is married to Linda and they have two sons, John 28, who is married to Heather, and Jim 19.
TOM KSIONZYK, ASSISTANT FRESHMAN COACH
Coach Ksionzyk returns for his ninth year coaching football at St. Pius X. Coach Ksionzyk is also a Varsity Assistant Baseball Coach for the Golden Lions. His father, John L. Ksionzyk, played professional football with the Los Angeles Rams in 1946 & 1947 and was the Head Varsity Coach in Olean, NY for 25 years. Coach Ksionzyk teaches in the City of Decatur School System and lives in Decatur with his wife Anne. They have two sons, Kevin (SPX ’05) and Brady.
BLAISE WANNEMACHER, ASSISTANT FRESHMAN COACH
Coach Wannemacher (SPX ’06) begins his sixth year coaching Football at St. Pius X. As a student-athlete at St. Pius X, he played quarterback for the Golden Lions football team under Coach Standard. He also played baseball and basketball at St. Pius X, and now enjoys coaching both sports at the middle school level for the Golden Lions. Coach Wannemacher works with Pearson Education. He and his wife Lisette (SPX ’06), live in Lilburn with their son, Pace, and are expecting their second child this fall.
