St. Pius X Golden Lions
Mike Lancaster, Head Freshman Coach
Coach Lancaster is beginning his 38th year of coaching and 8th season with the St. Pius X football team. Additionally, Coach Lancaster is beginning his fourth year as the Head Varsity Wrestling Coach and 8th season as an assistant baseball coach for the Golden Lions. Coach Lancaster spent 35 years teaching and coaching in the metropolitan Atlanta area, retiring from the Gwinnett County Public School System in June of 2014. Coach Lancaster and his wife, Lisa, have two children, a son, Marc, and a daughter, Laura.
DOUG WAGNER, ASSISTANT FRESHMAN COACH
Coach Wagner begins his fourth season with the Golden Lions after 33 years at Parkview High School, where he taught mathematics, served as mathematics department chair, and coached football, baseball, and wrestling. Coach Wagner graduated from Georgia Tech and earned his M. Ed., Ed. S, and Ph.D. from Georgia State University in Mathematics Education. He wrestled his freshman year at North Carolina State University where they were ACC Champions. Coach Wagner played football and was a student assistant coach at Georgia Tech where he worked with Pepper Rodgers, Bill Curry, Norm Van Brocklin, Romeo Crennel, and Steve Spurrier. Coach Wagner is very excited and feels extremely honored to continue his work as a Mathematics Teacher and freshman defensive coordinator at St. Pius X. He has two sons, John 30, who is married to Heather, and Jim 21 as well as having one granddaughter, Grace 2 1/2.
JT GILBERT, Assistant Freshman Coach
Coach Gilbert returns to the gridiron staff after a two year sabbatical. He will be working with the 9th grade QBs and RBs. He begins his 17th year at SPX and 15th year of coaching. Coach Gilbert has experience with every offensive position, both on the 9th grade and varsity staffs. He is originally from LaCrosse, WI and now resides in Chamblee, GA.
TOM KSIONZYK, Assistant Freshman Coach
Coach Ksionzyk enters his 12th year of coaching football for the Golden Lions. As a member of the 9th grade staff, he coaches the wide receivers, defensive backs and handles the special teams. In addition to coaching football, he has also coached baseball for St. Pius X.
