Coaches, Friends, Cousins Face Off in Football Finals
December 14th, 2012

Head Coach Paul Standard will see a familiar face across the field at the State Championship game this evening. Buford defensive coordinator Dicky May and Coach Standard have been longtime friends since their time spent coaching at Dacula High School and later with their children’s youth baseball and football teams. The two men, with a combined coaching career of 58 years, were featured in an article written for the Gwinnett Daily Post. To read the article in its entirety, please click here.

In addition, family members Montgomery VanGorder (Buford) and Quincy Nieporte '13 will also compete for the title this evening.  The two cousins, six weeks apart in age will face each other on the field.  VanGorder plays quarterback for Buford while Nieporte is St. Pius X's defensive end.  The friendly competition within the family will be fierce, with the two families sitting on opposite sides of the field.  To read this article from the Gwinnett Daily Post, please click here
