Spring Blood Drive Surpassed Goals
March 31st, 2015

The St. Pius X Spring Blood Drive, held in honor of Ms. Charleen Klister, on March 26, was a major success! We had 210 people show up for the drive. We were able to collect 182 units of blood. The American Red Cross estimates that for every unit of blood donated, three lives are saved. That means, because of the St. Pius X community, 546 people will continue to live! In addition, 36 individuals signed-up to have their names placed on the bone marrow registry. The goal for this drive was 20. This directly saves the lives of leukemia patients.

The drive was dedicated to Ms. Klister, who is battling leukemia, and is hopeful of having a bone marrow transplant this summer. After the drive she wanted everyone to know how moved and appreciative she was of everyone’s care and efforts on her behalf. She also wanted to let everyone know that she prays for the Pius community every single day. I know we are all praying for her also.

Thanks especially to Holley Reynolds, Theresa Harris, Lupe Guyton, and all of the wonderful volunteers at the drive. You along with the wonderful Pius students, parents, and alumni, make it happen. You are the best!
