Spring Sports Continue in Playoffs

The spring sport season is reaching the conclusion at St. Pius X as teams are entering the playoffs.  Girls' tennis completed its season this week in the quarterfinals, while girls' golf concluded its season as the Region 6-AAA runners-up.

Boys' tennis has advanced to the state semi-finals and will travel on Monday to Waycross to take on Brantley County.

Girls' Soccer, the Region 6-AAA champions advanced to the second round of the AAA playoffs with a 10-0 win over West Hall and will host North Oconee next week. 

Boys' soccer will host Dawson County Friday night at 6pm.  The Golden Lions took the region crown and if they advance will host a second round playoff game next week, with time and date to be determined.

Baseball will open the playoffs on the road Friday at Buford, the No. 2 seed out of Region 7-AAA, for a best-of-three series.  The teams will play a doubleheader Friday and, if necessary, a third game on Saturday also at Buford.

Both lacrosse teams open the playoffs next week against Pope.  The girls team will travel to Pope on Tuesday, while the boys' lacrosse team will host Pope.

Boys' golf will participate in the state championships May 20 at the Reunion Golf and Country Club.

Boys' track & field is off to a good start at the state meet in Jefferson.  On Thursday, Fred Dorsey (Triple Jump), Daniel Haugh (Shot put & Discus) and Austin Sprague (1600m) captured state crowns.  Calvin Tirrell was the runner-up in the 1600m, giving the team the overnight lead in AAA.  Girls' track & field will participate in the state meet next week.
