May 19th, 2014

As the school year comes to a close, the spring sport season has seen St. Pius X teams capture four more state titles and one two runners-up trophies.

Boys' golf team member Christopher Harris '14 earned AAA golf state championship low medalist honors with a score of 69, tying his personal best.  The team earned third place overall with a score of 307, a mere five strokes behind North Oconee in the championship tournament.

Boys' and girls' soccer swept the AAA championship last weekend for the second consecutive season.  The ladies won their fifth title in six years, while the boys' grabbed their third in the past four seasons.

Boys' tennis defeated Woodward in a contest that came down to the final match to send retiring coach Chuck Byrd into retirement with a state championship.

Boys' track claimed the top spot in AAA for the second year in a row.

Girls' track and tennis each finished as state runners-up.

With four state titles this spring, the Golden Lions have now taken eight championships in the 2013-14 school year, including volleyball, boys' cross country, boys' swimming and girls' basketball.
