St. Pius X Golden Lions
SPX to Host Christmas Classic, Dec. 28-30

While most students and parents will celebrate an extended Christmas during the Holiday break, the St. Pius X boys’ and girls’ varsity basketball teams will take to the court in the St. Pius X Christmas Classic, December 28-30. The event, which is widely known as the one of the premier Catholic School tournament in the nation, featured eight boys and eight girls’ basketball teams from seven different states, Tickets are $7 per day, or a 3-day tournament pass can be purchased for $18.
The tournament will officially begin with a Mass and Banquet for the participating teams on Sunday night, December 27. Opening up the games on Monday at 1:30pm will be a girls’ division game between Mother of Mercy (OH) and Tampa Catholic (FL). Other girls’ games include Cardinal Gibbons (NC) vs. St. Joseph's Academy (MO), Bishop McGuinness (NC) vs. Father Ryan (TN), and the Golden Lions tipping off at 6pm against Cardinal Newman (SC). The boys’ division starts with Belen Jesuit (FL) taking on Cardinal Newman (SC) at 3:30pm. In other action, St. Xavier (OH) battles McGill-Toolen (AL) at 4pm, while St. Joseph's (SC) matches up with Blessed Trinity. The nightcap at 8pm features the Golden Lions taking on Bishop McGuinness (NC). For the Boys' Bracket, click here.
Play will resume on Tuesday at 12:30pm with eight games in both gyms, and again on Wednesday at 11am. The girls’ championship game will begin at 5pm on Dec. 30, while the boys’ final tips off at 7pm.
