Science Olympiad Team Returns to St. Pius X
March 19th, 2015

After being inactive for years, the Science Olympiad team started again this year with nine members under the direction of Mr. Lammers and captain Lauren Sill '16. Science Olympiad, a competitive science team, participates in a variety of events that cover different areas of science besides the ones students learn about in school. Events include topics from astronomy to fossils, allowing members to explore many aspects of science.

The team traveled to Macon for regional finals on February 20-21, with four students placing. Congratulations to sophomores Meg Cordone and Nicholas Glenister for placing first in Air Trajectory and juniors Joey Jackson and Jeremy Roberts for placing second in Compound Machines.

The other members of the team this year were: Megan Anandappa '17, Khloe Starling '16, Bennett Brinson '17 and Peter Schumaker '17. All are looking forward to preparing for and participating in this refurbished tradition here at St. Pius X. If you know of any student who might be interested in this science competition, please have them contact Lauren Sill or Mr. Lammers.
