Resources for World History
QUICK LINKS: 1.  Finding books with the Library Catalog
  2.  Using reference sources
  3.  Using article databases

1.  The Library Catalog
Web Safari, the library catalog is available from the Library homepage by clicking here.  We have a LARGE collection of history books.  Don't neglect this valuable resource!  Books should be your main resource for your research.

Browse the collection using the following numbers:

  • 909 General World History
  • 913s & 930s The Ancient World -- Egypt, Greece, and Rome
  • 914s & 940s -- History of Europe
  • 915s & 950s -- History of Asia
  • 916s & 960s -- History of Africa

The call number is the "address" of the book and also tells you something about the subject matter.

2.  The Reference Section  (it's not just the World Book!)

The link below leads to a list of some excellent resources called SUBJECT ENCYCLOPEDIAS .  Since many of them contain authored essays with more depth than a general encyclopedia, your teacher may accept one or two as a resource for your paper.  Always ask your History teacher to be sure.
