There is a lot of important and helpful information for parents in eSPX, and by looking through the heading topics in the “IN THIS ISSUE” section; you may determine which items are of interest to you.

THIS WEEK
“SATURDAY NIGHT LIGHTS”-FRESHMAN/SOPHOMORE DANCE
The Freshman/Sophomore Dance will be held this Saturday, September 11 in the St. Pius X cafeteria. You may drop off students in the rear of the school by the Roar Store entrance. Drop-off at the front entrance of school will not be allowed. SPX students must bring their student ID as students from other schools are not allowed to attend. Tickets will be on sale this week during lunch all three lunch periods, Wednesday-Friday. Pre-sale tickets are $10, with tickets purchased at the door are $12.
Attire is casual, with shorts and appropriate shirts preferred, but please dress appropriately. Students may not wear oversized pants falling below natural waist, spandex or form-fitting clothing (including leotard type tops), low cut or plunging necklines which would expose any cleavage, shirts which show midriff, strapless tops/sweaters/blouses, or oversized/undersized shirts. Advertising on clothing which is designed to promote the use of alcohol or other drugs or that which might not be in keeping with the Christian values promoted in this school is prohibited.
Because of the unique and constantly changing nature of fashion, the school has reserved the right to classify any style of dress, grooming, or appearance as inappropriate. Tattoos and body-piercings (aside from the one piercing per ear) is not consider consistent with the St. Pius X dress code.

THE SPAS/SALLY FOSTER COOKIE DOUGH SALE
We have had a great start to the Sally Foster/Cookie Dough Sale. Thanks for all the orders that support our Fine Arts Programs. Each purchase allows St. Pius Arts Society (SPAS) to fund scholarships, instruments, clinicians, guest artists, costumes, band uniforms and trips. Our last collection day is Wednesday, September 15th..

BLOOD DRIVE-DONORS NEEDED
Did you know that one pint of blood can save up to three lives? We will be having our fall Blood Drive on Thursday, October 7th, in the SPX gym. We are actively soliciting parent donors for this worthy cause. If you are willing and able to donate blood, please sign up in the cafeteria on mini-class night, or send an e-mail to spxblooddrive@yahoo.com with your preferred appointment time between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. CAMPUS MINISTRY REMINDERS
Pilgrimages
Chaperones are needed for the 2010-2011 Class Pilgrimages. Each Class at St. Pius X takes an annual pilgrimage together as a Class. These days are designed as a day for the Class to focus on our Catholic roots and to build community. We would love to have you join us! Marathon of Mercy
On Saturday October 23rd, St. Pius X will host its first Annual All School Service Day : The Marathon of Mercy. Volunteers are needed for this great day of service. Please contact Campus Ministry for more information. Students will be able to register for the Marathon of Mercy after Labor Day weekend.
St. Pius X Prayer Chain
The St. Pius X Prayer Chain is a group of over 100 St. Pius friends who pray for the needs and intentions of our St. Pius X family. The prayer chain is sent out weekly through email to the participants. If you would like to join in this powerful and important ministry to St. Pius X or have intentions that you would like us to add to the Prayer Chain please email prayers@spx.org at any time during the year.
St. Pius X Eucharistic Adoration
Every Friday St. Pius X offers Eucharistic Adoration to our St. Pius X family. During the day students, teachers, and classes visit the Blessed Sacrament in the Chapel. Parent Eucharistic Adoration Guardians are needed for this crucial element of our Catholic Identity at St. Pius X. Not only is Eucharistic Adoration an important part of our School it is a wonderful opportunity for silence, peace, and prayer time in our busy lives. Guardians can sign up for a weekly hour our a monthly hour. Please contact Sharyn Baer, Adoration Coordinator at Palmer913@aol.com for more information or to sign up.
SAT PREPARATION CLASS AT ST. PIUS X
The SAT Prep course offered to St. Pius X students consists of 4 hours of class for 4 consecutive Saturdays: September 11,18,25, and October 2, 2010 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Each Saturday the students will work 2 hours on the Verbal sections of the test with Ms. Mary Martha Spear, English teacher, and 2 hours on the Mathematics sections of the test with Mrs. Beth Thompson, Mathematics teacher. Instruction is given on strategies for taking the test as well as the actual content of the tests. Students take practice tests every week and have the opportunity to discuss the questions they answered incorrectly. All materials are provided except for calculators, which are needed for the math sections of the test. The cost is $200 and is paid at the time of registration. Click here for more information.
SAVE THE DATE—ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION FALL GOLF OUTING
Our 25th Annual St. Pius Athletic Association Fall Golf Outing will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010 at the Northwood Country Club. Please watch for updates. The Registration form will be coming in the SPX Athletic Association's August mailing. For sponsorship opportunities or other information contact Dale Stanley in the SPX Athletic Office at 404-636-7751 or Karen Ratcliffe at Karatcliffe@msn.com. USED UNIFORMS
Please drop off any used winter uniforms and/or any senior uniforms in the school bookstore. Even the plain white button-downs can be dropped off, and we will donate them to Dresden Elementary. Thank you!
