Mr. Voorhees is new to teaching and new to St. Pius X this year. This year he will teach Freshman Geography and U.S. History.

Originally from Charlotte, N.C., Mr. Voorhees is a 1972 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in History. Mr. Voorhees served over twenty-two years on active duty in the Air Force, in the Air National Guard, and the Air Force Reserve, retiring in 1994 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He also is a retired commercial airline pilot having flown domestic and international routes for nearly twenty-six years with Delta Air Lines.

 

 

In 2007, Mr. Voorhees graduated with a Masters of Education degree in Social Studies from Georgia State University. In addition to teaching in the Social Studies Department, Mr. Voorhees is the St. Pius X women's lacrosse coach.

 

Mr. Voorhees lives with his bride, Angela, in Alpharetta. They have three children, son Scott who works for the Boy Scouts of America in Atlanta, son Paul, a senior at Clemson University, and daughter Alisha, a freshman at Clemson. When not teaching or coaching Mr. Voorhees enjoys sailing on Lake Lanier.
