Mr. Standard (St. Pius X 1980) has served as an Economics and Physical Education teacher at St. Pius X since 2001.  Mr. Standard also serves as the Head Football Coach.  Mr. Standard graduated from The Citadel in 1984 (B.S. Business Administration) and completed courses for teacher certification at Georgia State University (1984-86).   He holds a PBT-4 certificate in Business Education.  Upon his graduation from The Citadel, Mr. Standard served in the U.S. Army Reserve (1984-1992) and was honorably discharged in 1992 as a 1 st Lt. in Field Artillery.

Mr. Standard began his teaching career at Loganville High School (1985-86).   From there he taught at Meadowcreek High (1986-1991), and Dacula High (1991-2000).  Mr. Standard has been nominated for Teacher of the Year three times during his career ( 1988-89, 1992-93, 98-99).

Mr. Standard's college awards include being a Gold Star Award Recipient four times (GPA of 3.7-4.0), six-time Dean's List member, Commandant's Distinguished Service Award recipient, member of the Economic Society, representative to the Honor Court, Distinguished Military Student, Secretary to the Honor Court, Distinguished Military Graduate, Junior Class Officer, Merit Scholarship Recipient, and National Sojourners Award.

Mr. Standard's professional awards include: Nominated Teacher of the Year 1988-89, 1992-93, 98-99, Georgia Athletic Coaches Association member (1985-2005), G.A.C.A. Assistant Coach of the Year (1993, 1994, 1996, 1999), President of the Gwinnett Dugout Club (1997-98), Coach in the GACA North-South All-Star Game 2003, Atlanta Touchdown Club Coach of the Week November 2003, and Dekalb Touchdown Club Coach of the Month November 2003.

Mr. Standard is married to Cindy Harper Standard, an occupational therapist with Gwinnett County Schools. They have four children: Paul III (P.G.) 15, Elizabeth 14, Mary Kate 11, and Margaret May 1 ½.
