Frederick
VARSITY HEAD COACH
This will be Coach Frederick's eighth year at St. Pius X as Head
of the Volleyball program. His teams have been 224-148 in his
tenure at St. Pius X. After leading the team to the final
four for the third time in school history last year, Coach Frederick
was named DeKalb County Coach of the Year for the second time. Coach
Frederick was 292-74 in 12 years as the Junior Varsity coach at
Westminster. Westminster won five state championships (1987,
1989, 1992, 1995 & 2000) during Coach Frederick's time in the
program. He began his volleyball carrer as a player where
he was a middle blocker and setter at Bucknell University from 1980-83. Coach
Frederick also coached Track and Cross Country at Westminster assisting
with another 5 state championship teams. In addition to his
Volleyball duties at St. Pius X, Coach Frederick teaches Chemistry. He
is married to Ann Frederick and they have three children, David
(17), Allison (13) and Kelsey (11).

Returning
for a fourth season with the Golden Lions is Coach Dun. He
has been instrumental in changing the culture of Pius Volleyball.
In his first three years with the Golden Lions the teams accumulated
120 wins (19 more than in any prior three years in school history).
Coach Dun comes to us from Woodward Academy's where he assisted
with their 2004 state championship. He also has spent the
last six years coaching with the Tsunami club program. An
IMPACT certified volleyball coach he led his 15-1 team to a 3rd
place finish in the Southern region. An outstanding player
in his own right, Coach Hahn won a national championship as a player
in BB Reverse Coed in 2004. He is a graduate of Parkview High
School and Georgia Tech where he has a degree in Biology.

Varsity coach
Among the strongest players
in St. Pius X history Amanda continues to move up through the coaching
ranks. In her fifth year of coaching following an oustanding
playing carrer for the Golden Lions, she led the JV to their first
tournament championship in many years when they won the Darlington
Invitational last fall. Previously she coached our freshmen and
middle school teams. More importantly she has done a fantasitic
job of building the confidence of our young players with her positive
outlook. She also is coaching in the Tsunami club program.
This follows after playing a year of college volleyball at West
Georgia State University. One of the captains of the 2002
St. Pius X Golden Lions, Amanda will lend her expertise and positive
attitude to our junior varsity program this year. She has
finished her associates degree in english and is currently in her
senior year at West Georgia.

Looking
forward to her third year as middle school coach is Beth Tarasawa.
Her first two middle school teams continued Amanda's strong tradition
and have absorbed her positive outlook on the game and life.
In addition, last year Beth helped the Varsity team to its final
four birth and is held in high regard throughtout the program.
Beth has spent time as a club coach with the Tsunami program coaching
14's and younger. She went to high school in Portland, Oregon
where she played primarily as a defensive specialist. Beth
is a graduate of Portland State University. She has a PhD
from Emory University in Sociology where she is currently teaching.
Kari

freshman
coach
Kari joined
the freshman program mid season of 2007. She played volleyball
at Gunn High School in Palo Alto, California and made first team
all league as a defensive specialist. Kari graduated from
Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education
and Health. Additionally, she was commissioned in the US Army
and complete her service with the 7th Infantry Division (Light)
in Fort Ord, California as a Captain. She has assisted with
the IHM Volleyball developmental program for years and currently
assists with Team One -13's. Kari is married to Juan, and
has two boys; Sebastian who attends St. Pius X and Addison who attends
IHM.

The new
coach in the program has just completed her eligibility at Georgia
Tech. At Tech she was a special player. She played for
the Jacket's Volleyball team all four years. She was an all-ACC
selection as an outside hitter her Junior and Senior seasons.
In high school she was the Olathe Player of the Year at Olathe High
School where she was twice named all-state in Kansas. Lindsey
will help with the varsity team this year as she finishes up a Management
major at Georgia Tech. |
