The 2008 tennis season concluded with a disappointing loss to Woodward in the State Semifinals. The boys had been the consensus #2 team in the state for most of the season, but had the misfortune of being paired against the #1 seed, Woodward, in the semis. The St. Pius boys had "UPSET" on their minds, but it was not to be. The boys fought hard, but fell 3-0 to their southside rivals. The 2008 team was led by sensational singles players James Zaher, Benji Vernon and Brody Bollaci and the dynamic doubles teams of Taylor Place/Will Broder and Ben McTier/John DeRosa. Fortunately, all starters will return for the 2009 season as well as super subs Patrick Thompson, Clark Daniel and Sean Underwood. The future is bright for St. Pius tennis!! |
