St.
Pius X vs. North Atlanta
By Patrick Tighe
The St. Pius Boys Soccer team defeated sub region foe, the North
Atlanta Warriors 3-0 on Tuesday night. This was a great morale boosting
win after the tough 1-0 loss to Carrolton last Friday Night.
Senior leadership was the main theme of this game. Senior Scott
McClellan netted two beautiful goals to put Pius on top 2-0 early.
Senior Andy Leipold, back from his stint with the St. Pius Men's
Basketball team drilled in one more insurance goal. This tally by
Leipold put Pius up 3-0 and the game was out of reach for North
Atlanta. The 0 on the scoreboard for North Atlanta deserves big
congratulations. Shutouts do not happen often on any level of soccer!
A big pat on the back to sophomore goalkeeper Andrew Wolverton,
the defenders, and the whole squad for this accomplishment! The
Pius boys now have a record of (3-2-1) on the season. On Thursday
night March 5th Pius will face a big test. Sub region opponent the
Riverwood Raiders will come calling to George B. Maloof Stadium.
All Pius fans are encouraged to attend this important sub region
match. Kickoff is at 7:30 pm at home. GO LIONS!
