Varsity Debuts at North-South Preview

South Team Drills North Squad, 17 points to 7 points

Despite a solid playing performance from the Golden Lions, the South duo of Glynnn Academy and Vidalia High School proved too much for the Golden Lions and their Blessed Trinity counterparts to handle. Freshman Garrett Bernhardt won his first ever match-play event as a Lion with a one-up victory at the 6th seed, while Junior Jeff Brum celebrated his 18th birthday in style by edging out his opponents in another one-up match victory as the 5th seed. Senior Captain Max Troutman and partner ran into a "birdie buzzsaw" from Team South, falling 5 & 4 despite a relatively strong stroke-play performance in the # 1 seeded match. Juniors Connor Ratcliffe (2 seed) and Michael Czarnomski (3 seed) both fought back with late rallies before falling, each with a 2 & 1 match result. 4th seeded Nick Coupland's match went back and forth for the day before ending 1 down, but the Freshman and his partner barely missed birdie efforts that would have halved the hotly-contested match.
