Season Requirements 2008

The 2007 season saw the St. Pius Girls win 1st place in region and advance to state for the second time in school history.   Freshman Alex Karr, junior Megan Reynolds, sophomores Kiersten Rom and Carol Raterman and junior alternate Morgan Carney, had a fantastic day placing 10th overall for AAAA.  With everyone returning for the '08 season, the St. Pius Golden Lion Girls' Golf team promises to be a formidable opponent again at region and state!

June 2007 - January 2008 -- girls interested in playing golf next season should make every effort to do the following:
1. Play 18 holes per month. This can be done with 2 separate rounds of 9.
2. Email information to Ms. Braham ANY TIME YOU PLAY-- the course you've played (and where it's located if not in GA) and specify your 9 or 18 hole score. (rbraham@spx.org)
3. Arrange for lessons with a Pro. You may use any pro you wish but we do recommend Tim Foster at The Hooch in Duluth or Chris Trantow and Heritage Golf Club in Tucker.  The Pros at PGA Tour Superstore have been good to us as well.   You should see a Pro on a minimum monthly basis to concentrate on particular aspects of your game. It is helpful to see the same Pro if at all possible because he/she can monitor your progress.
4. Play with a golf-knowledgeable adult as often as possible.
5. Play with a fellow SPX golfer.
6. Begin study of the USGA rules book. All play is governed by USGA rules.

REMINDER: We are looking for girls who are self-motivated and serious about playing golf. We are a team committed to practicing and playing in the most competitive manner possible. We are not looking for perfection, simply the pursuit of it! Start working to improve your game now.  We anticipate a team of 8 girls.   Team places will be determined by the lowest 8 scores from the tryout week, February 4 - 8, 2008.  If you have any questions about your qualifications for playing, please email Ms. Braham (rbraham@spx.org).
