JEnny phillips
VARSITY COACH

This is Mrs. Phillips' first year as the varsity football cheerleading coach.  She also remains the coach for the varsity basketball squad.  This is Mrs. Phillips' third year coaching cheerleading at the varsity level at St. Pius and it is her fifth year coaching cheerleading. Mrs. Phillips is NFHS certified and is a member of GHSA and GCCA.

 

Mrs. Phillips graduated from Duluth High School as well as Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. Mrs. Phillips cheered football, basketball, and competitively throughout high school and college. She did competitive gymnastics for 10 years and also coached gymnastics for 3 years. 

 

Mrs. Phillips has her B.S. in mathematics, her secondary certification from North Georgia College and State University and her M.Ed. from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. Although Mrs. Phillips' taught math at St. Pius for two years, she is now a stay at home mom. Mrs. Phillips is married and has a son, Hudson, who is one year old.

 

NANCY DOLGETTA
JUNIOR VARSITY Coach

    This is Ms. Dolgetta's second year coaching at St. Pius. She began coaching the freshman football cheerleaders in 2007 and returns this year as the junior varsity football cheerleading coach. Ms. Dolgetta graduated from St. Pius in 2003 and continued her education at Georgia Tech. She graduated from Georgia Tech in 2007 with a magna cum laude B.S. in Applied Psychology.

    Ms. Dolgetta spent her extracurricular time at both St. Pius X and Georgia Tech cheerleading for football and basketball. Ms. Dolgetta is currently enrolled at Georgia State University pursuing a Master's of Arts in Teaching.

 

MARY PAIGE EDWARDS
FRESHMAN Coach

      This will be Ms. Edwards' first year coaching at St. Pius X, but not her first year coaching. As a Virginia native she previously coached in Virginia Beach for a Middle School squad and at her high school alma mater in Isle of Wight. Ms. Edwards moved to Atlanta from Smithfield, Virginia over a year ago and is still getting acclimated to the area. She graduated college from James Madison University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Media Arts and Design and she is currently going back to school at the Art Institute of Atlanta to earn a degree in Advertising Design. She will be finishing this September.

      Ms. Edwards is also employed as a Graphic Designer at Kapp Koncepts, Inc. by Jay Kapp, a St. Pius X graduate.

 

ANNE SEWELL
Middle School Cheerleading Coach

This is Mrs. Sewell's second year coaching the Middle School football cheerleading squad. She also coaches cheerleaders ages 6-12 at Northside Youth Organization during their football season and is Head Coach of the Middle School Cheerleading Program at Christ the King School. When not coaching cheerleading, Mrs. Sewell plays a lot of tennis, runs her small business and drives her 4 children around Atlanta.

 

Although Mrs. Sewell has lived in Atlanta for the last 20 years she grew up in Virginia, where she graduated from First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach and received her B.A. In Computer Science and Economics from Sweet Briar College. She cheered in junior high, high school and then cheered for Washington and Lee University while in college.

 

Mrs. Sewell is married to Henry Sewell and they have 4 children, Henry (16), Berlin (14), Harrison (12) and Emily Anne (10)

 

maria batres
HEAD CHEERLEADING COACH

  This is Ms. Batres' sixth year as head coach of the St. Pius X Cheerleading program and her 12th year coaching.  She currently coaches the Varsity competition squad.  She teaches US History, Government, and Economics at St. Pius and is currently attending law school at Georgia State University.
