JENNY
phillips
HEAD VARSITY COACH
This
is Mrs. Phillips' third year as the head varsity basketball cheerleading
coach. She is also the varisty football squad coach this year.
Although Mrs. Phillips' taught math at St. Pius for two years,
she continues to stay at home with her son this year. It is her
fifth year coaching cheerleading.
Mrs.
Phillips graduated form Duluth High School in 1997. After graduation,
she attended Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina, where
she majored in mathematics and minored in Chemistry and Computer
Science while cheering. She received her secondary certification
from North Georgia College and State University and her M.Ed. from
Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Mrs.
Phillips is married and has a son, Hudson, who is one year old.
Alison
bruckert
ASSISTANT VARSITY COACH
Alison
Bruckert joins the cheerleading coaching staff as the Assistant
Coach to the Varsity Basketball squad. While this is her first
year coaching at St. Pius, Ms. Bruckert coached the J.V. Football
Cheerleading squad at Winder-Barrow High School for the past two
years. A 2001 SPX alum, Alison was also a member of the cheerleading
program when she attended high school. Ms. Bruckert currently
teaches Psychology, Sociology, and World History in the Social Studies
Department.
Ms.
Bruckert attended Vanderbilt University for B.S. degrees in K-8
Education and Child Developmental Studies. She continued her schooling
at The University of Georgia, where she obtained her M. Ed. in Social
Science Education and Gifted Education. For the past
two years, Ms. Bruckert taught third grade at Holsenbeck Elementary
in Winder, GA. She is actively involved in the Athens community
as the Recruitment Advisor for Alpha Omicron Pi sorority at the
University of Georgia, but is excited about having recently moved
to Atlanta for her new teaching and coaching position.
aMANDA
MAHONEY
JUNIOR VARSITY COACH
Amanda
Mahoney is returning for her fourth season as JV Basketball Cheer
Coach. A SPX alum of 2003, Amanda coaches the SPX JV Volleyball
team, and is also a SPX Track assistant. Amanda is currently
working towards her BA in English with certification
in Secondary Education at University of West Georgia.
In addition to her coaching at St. Pius,
Amanda works at the Chiropractic Clinic of Snellville and coaches
Club volleyball at the Tsunami Volleyball Club. During
her time at St. Pius, Amanda was a member of the volleyball, basketball
and track programs. Amanda played one year of college volleyball
at University of West GA and is happy to be assisting with the Cheer
program at SPX!
MARIA
BATRES
HEAD CHEERLEADING COACH
Ms. Batres is in her 6th
year as head coach of the St. Pius cheerleading program and in her
12th year of coaching. This year she is coaching the Varsity
competition squad. Ms. Batres teaches in the Social Studies Department
and is currently attending law school at Georgia State University.
