is Coach J.T. Gilbert's
fifth year at the
helm of the Golden
Lions, but seventh
year overall (he
was the Assistant
Varsity Coach from
2002-2003). In 2007, the Golden Lions advanced to the second round of the state playoffs. In 2004, Coach Gilbert's
inaugural season,
the Golden Lions
advanced to the quarterfinals
of the State Playoffs
(the furthest any
Golden Lion team
has ever advanced).
Prior to coaching
at St. Pius X, he
was the pitching
coach for Viterbo
University in LaCrosse,
WI. Coach
Gilbert won three
state championships
in high school, and
then went on to the
University of Minnesota
to pitch for the
Gophers. Coach Gilbert
is a 9th grade theology
teacher at St. Pius
X and the Running
Backs Coach for the
Varsity Football
team. Coach Gilbert
is single and lives
in Loganville.

Winland

Varsity Coach
The
2008 season is
Coach Winland’s
second year as the
Golden Lions’ assistant
varsity baseball
coach. Coach Winland is a graduate of Marist
School. He played baseball
for the Spiders
at the University
of Richmond. Along
with coaching and
teaching 10th and
12th grade English,
Coach Winland is
currently writing
his thesis for his
M.A. in English from
Georgia State University.
He lives with his
wife, Kathryn,
and two dogs, Charlie
and Savannah, in
Decatur.

Varsity Coach
Coach Standard,
a St. Pius X Alumnus,
returns for his fourth
year on the baseball
coaching staff. Coach
Standard has been
the Golden Lions
Head Varsity Football
Coach for the past
seven seasons. Coach
Standard coached
baseball from 1991
to 1998 at Dacula
High School. In his
last two seasons,
he was the Head Coach
and led the team
to two State Playoff
appearances. From
1999 to 2004, Coach
Standard coached
travel baseball teams.
Coach Standard lives
in Lawrenceville
with his wife, Cindy,
and four children

and Margaret May)

Ksionzyk
Head
Junior Varsity
Coach
Coach Ksionzyk returns
for his third season
with the Golden Lion
staff this season.
He brings fifteen
year of coaching
experience, including
five at Decatur High
School, two as head
coach. In 2003 and
2004, he led the
Bulldogs to their
first state playoff
appearance in over
thirty-five years.
Coach Ksionzyk has
also coached a number
of summer travel
teams and has led
his teams to numerous
national championship
events. Coach Ksionzyk
lives with his wife
Anne in Decatur,
and has two sons,
Kevin a 2005 SPX
graduate, and Brady,
an eighth-grader
at St. Thomas More.

is Coach Mense's fifth with the Golden Lions, his fourth as
the Assistant Junior
Varsity Coach. He
was the Assistant
Freshman Coach in
2004. Coach Mense
is a 2002 graduate
of SPX and member
of the 2001 Golden
Lions team that won
a region championship and
advanced to the second
round of the state
playoffs. Coach
Mense is the co-record
holder for home runs
in a single season
(11). Coach Mense
lives in Buckhead
and is a student
at Georgia Perimeter
College.

Coach Gilbert returns
for his fourth year
as the Head Freshman
Coach.
Coach Gilbert served
as the Head Varsity
Coach for two seasons
(2002-2003). His
2002 squad advanced
to the second round
of the State Playoffs.

St. Pius X, Coach
Gilbert was the Head
Varsity Coach at
Forsyth Central for
two seasons. Coach
Gilbert is the Head Freshman Football
Coach and teaches
Physical Education
and Health at SPX.
Coach Gilbert lives
in Lawrenceville
with his wife, Margaret,
a swimming and diving
coach at St. Pius
X, and four daughters
(Katy, Sara, Jill,
and Mary Margaret).
Chris Fason

Freshman Coach
The 2008 season is Coach Fason's first year with the St. Pius X Golden Lions baseball program. After serving in the United States Marine Corps, Coach Chris Fason attended Georgia College & State University where he played for three years on the GC&SU Golf Team. Coach Fason started his coaching career in Washington County in 1997 where he coached Middle School Football and Baseball, and led his baseball team to the Region Championship in 1997 & 1998. From 2000-2002, Coach Fason taught Special Ed at Roswell High School and was the Head 9th Grade Football & Baseball coach. Coach Fason coaches Varsity Receivers for the St. Pius X Football team and teaches PE at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic School in Sandy Springs. Coach Fason lives in Roswell with his wife, Megan, and his three daughters, Maggie, Mary Beth, and Olivia.

The 2008 season is Coach Euart's first year with the St. Pius X Golden Lions baseball program.

White Coach
The 2008 season
is Coach May's eighth
year as Head Middle
School White Coach
for Golden Lions
(9th overall). Coach May's 2007 club finished in fourth place in the Middle School "A" League with a 9-5 record. During Coach May's eight seasons at the helm he has compiled
a record of 64-35-2
and won the
league championship
in 2001 and 2003.
He was the Assistant
for the team in his
first year with the
program. Coach May
is a PiHi graduate
(1974) and was the
left fielder for
the first SPX baseball
team to qualify for
the state tournament.
Coach May spends
his days working
at May Construction
and lives with his
wife, Kerry, and
their 4 children
(Amy, Jimmy, Mary
Jane, and Grace)
in Dunwoody.

is Coach Porter's
second year as the Head
Middle School Gold
Coach for Golden
Lions. Coach Porter's 2007 team finished in 3rd place in the Middle School "C" League with a 9-4-2 record. |
