Visual Arts

OCTOBER 2008

•  Juried Visual Arts Exhibition

October 25 at 7:00 p.m.

The Fourth Annual Juried Show was a great success. Many beautiful pieces were chosen for the exhibit by this year's judge, Chris Hickey, Professor of Art at Clark-Atlanta University. Martin Dawe, an Atlanta sculptor, will judge the 3-D work. A reception was held in the Visual Arts studio following the awards presentation.

Below are the 3 best in show winners for the Fourth Annual Juried show. Congratulations to all of the best of show and category winners.

The Third Annual Juried Show was held in the spring of 2007. Our juror, JoAnn Paschall chose the 60 pieces of work to be exhibited from over 120 entries. Ms. Paschall also critiqued the winners on the opening night of the exhibition. Artists and family members enjoyed hearing what made each winner special from her point of view. A reception followed in the Visual Art studio. Below are the best of show winners for the show.

Thanks to all our volunteers: Mary Stanley show organization; Patti Kisling slide presentation; Ana Bailie reception; Ana Bailie, Dave Shannahan, Bill Collier, Sue Gallo, Sue Matakis, Tracey LaFreniere and Bill Collier matting and hanging the show.

The Second Annual Juried Show

For the second year running St. Pius X was fortunate enough to have Val Porter (deputy director of Fulton County Arts Council) act as juror to our annual juried show. We are so grateful for the care and time Val Porter took looking at the student work. She did a fantastic job selecting the award winning entries.

Many thanks also go out to the volunteers who took part ferrying the entries to and from The Donellan Center and also matting and hanging the show:

They were:

Mary Stanley (VP for the Visual Arts and visual coordinator of the show)

JoAnne Paschall-Darby (Exhibition Design)

Special Thanks to:
