Music of Modern Mankind Presentation

All presentations need to typed, printed, and hand in at the end of the presentation.

A CD, with the presentation songs, needs to be handed in with the paper.

 

Criteria:

 

2 Songs:

 

 

  3-5 minutes in length

  One song needs to have been released with the past 7 years (2000 a.d. or later)

•  What about the music do you relate to? (musical content/lyrical) content)

•  Name of song

•  Date of Song (Album release)

•  Name of composer / performers

•  Do you play and instrument or study music? (Other than this class) and do you feel your musical study (or lack of) has an influence in the music that you regularly listen to?

One song is to be from the 20 th century and have, in your opinion , historical significance in the development of western music.

•  What about the music do you relate to? (musical content/lyrical) content)

•  Name of song

•  Date of Song (Album release)

•  Name of composer / performers

•  3 reasons why this song/music is innovative enough to be historically significant. Some examples might include:

• i. Chart topping success. (Beatles / Elvis)

• ii. New styles of music. (Ramones / Black Sabbath)

• iii. Use of new instruments (Wendy Carlos / Herbie Hancock)

• iv. Innovative use of instruments / Styles (Jimi Hendrix / Led Zeppelin)

 

Each presentation should last about 10 min. Mr. Anastasio will ask questions to move you through the presentation.

 

This presentation will be worth a test grade. Any questionable material that is considered obscene (fowl language or subject matter) for any reason will result in a zero for this presentation. Please use good judgment and take the assignment seriously.
