SPX Wrestlers have great showing at Sectionals and States
February 23rd, 2015

The St. Pius X Varsity wrestling team sent 13 wrestlers to Sectionals, the largest number in school history. During the two-day tournament held at Buford High School, five emerged as State Qualifiers, along with two that were sent to States as alternates. The State Tournament took place February 12-14 at the Macon Centreplex. At the end of the State competition, St. Pius X had 4 State placers – tying a school record!

Congratulations to all five of our seniors as they plan for graduation and moving on to college. These five Pius grapples have each help make this year's many school wrestling records a reality, and they are: Gaelen Athanaze, John Garner, Connor Laubenthal, Ty Mascara & Brian Rainwater. Special recognition goes to Connor Laubenthal as he ended his 4-year Varsity wrestling career with 109 wins! Connor is one of only three previous Pius wrestlers with more than 100 wins!  The Wrestling team would also like to thank Senior Managers Hannah Paproski and Rachel Skidmore for all of their help this year and in previous seasons.

Congratulations to the following Sectional Placers, State Qualifiers and State Placers!
