Swim & Dive Teams Celebrate Successful Season

Congratulations to the 2012-2013 Swim and Dive on a great season. The girls ended their season by taking third place at the State Championship meet, and the boys ended theirs by taking fifth (beating Marist by 2 points!). These wins were the capstone to an undefeated dual meet season for the girls and a one-loss dual meet season for the boys.

Seasonal highlights include Senior Devon Dabney breaking a 32-year old school record, finishing 3rd at the State Meet, and achieving an All American time in the Girls 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:50.79, and Junior Gunnar Bentz breaking school records (in addition to winning first at the State Meet and achieving an All American time) in the Boys 200 Freestyle and the Boys 500 Freestyle. The Boys 400 Free Relay team of Basil Orr, Garrett Cooper, Zach Halbig, and Gunnar Bentz also broke a school record with a time of 3:15.70. They finished in 5th place at the State Meet. Junior Basil Orr also achieved an All American time in the 100 Breaststroke and finished 2nd at the state meet.

Additional top ten finishes at state include:
2nd place finish of the Boys 200 Medley Relay team of Connor O’Toole, Basil Orr, Gunnar Bentz, and Zach Halbig
2nd place finish of the Girls 200 Medley Relay team of Sara Gilbert, Margo Hays, Julia Durmer, and Devon Dabney
3rd place finish in the Boys 200 Individual Medley by Basil Orr
3rd place finish in the Girls 200 Individual Medley by sophomore Julia Durmer
4th place finish in the Girls 50 Free by sophomore Sara Gilbert
6th place finish in the Girls 100 Free by Devon Dabney
5th place finish in the Girls 500 Free by Julia Durmer
7th place finish in the Girls 100 Back by Sara Gilbert
4th place finish of the Girls 400 Free Relay team of Kate Nowak, Alana Davis, Marah Schiavinato, and Julia Durmer
