SPX Students Recognized at Mass with Archbishop
April 13th, 2012
Congratulations to several St. Pius X students who were honored at the Annual Scouting Awards and Recognition Mass with Archbishop Gregory. The yearly celebration, which was held on March 31, brings together scouts and scout leaders from all parishes within the Archdiocese to receive special awards and recognition.
Sophomores Matthew Coody, Kristina Going, Jennifer Richter, and Jonathan Rust each received the Pope Pius XII Emblem. This emblem is awarded to high school age scouts who have examined the effects of Christianity on their daily life in the real world. The program challenges the candidates to evaluate their personal talents and abilities in light of a possible choice of lifestyle, vocation, or ministry that relates in some way to belonging to the community and becoming more active in the Catholic Christian faith community.
The Pillars of Faith – Duty to God award goes to the Boy Scout who has earned all four of the religious emblems. This award is more rare than the Eagle Scout and is the highest award a Boy Scout can earn after receiving all four religious emblems (Light of Christ, Parvuli Dei, Ad Altare Dei, and Pope Pius XII). At the Mass and celebration, sophomore Jonathan Rust received this highly esteemed award.
Congratulations to these students!
