The Golden Lions Academic Quiz Bowl Team wins at the buzzer to remain undefeated!

On February 26, 2012, the Golden Lions came up against a tough Paideia team in the quarter finals of WSB-TV's High Q.  The Golden Lions maintained a nice lead throughout the match until the second Higher Q question where they lost points and fell behind.  Captain Jacob Hambrick went into overdrive and regained the Pius lead.  It was at the buzzer that Paideia had the opportunity to win the match, but failed to give the correct answer.  St. Pius walked away with the win with a score of 485 to 470.

WSB was quick in taking down all of the signage after the match against Paideia, but we were still able to capture our team's score!

The Academic Quiz Bowl Team offers an opportunity to display one's talents on a wide variety of academic topics. Format of practices involves question and answer sessions to identify a student's breadth of knowledge. Speed of response is a critical skill because quick reflexes are needed to complete successfully in academic tournaments with other schools. The "A" tournament team is generally composed of team members who are committed to their team and practice on a regular basis. Underclassmen are encouraged to try out for the team.  For all team members, there are mandatory dues of $25.
