The Flannery O'Connor Library at St. Pius X Catholic School offers students a collection of books, periodicals, and technologies to meet their academic and recreational reading needs. All materials are selected with the student in mind.
Two library media specialists and two paraprofessionals are here to assist students in locating resources for research or a book for pleasure reading. Students are welcome to visit the library before, during, and after school. Our librarians, Mrs. Robin Tanis and Mrs. Meggan Wilcauskas support the curriculum by providing bibliographic instruction for class research projects as well as individual help. They make every effort to help students select the most appropriate print and online sources to meet their information needs.
The collection includes over 25,000 print and audiovisual titles. New resources are purchased throughout the year. Students have access to classic and contemporary fiction and nonfiction titles. A collection of 200,000+ electronic books are now available through the Gale Virtual Reference Library and EbscoHost Academic Ebook Collection. We even have audiobooks for those who have a long commute. Students may check out the latest digital video cameras for class assignments.
The library subscribes to over 100 print magazines including titles for current events, history, business, religion, sports, fashion, fitness, and other general interest titles.
Students have 24/7 access to a comprehensive suite of online reference databases for authoritative content. These databases include:
Advanced Placement Source
Health Resource Center
History Resources in Context
