Summer XC 2016
The 2016 Summer Practice Schedule: Summer practices begin 2 June at 7am and end 31 July.
Beginning August 1 st the practices begin after school at 3:30pm and end at 5:30pm.
The GHSA “dead week” is 3 July-9 July. There are no summer practices scheduled this week.
Mondays: Mercer University at 6pm. Bring water or sports drink and a towel. Meet on the lower soccer field at 1000 Flowers Road South, Atlanta 30341.
Tuesdays: St. Pius X at 7am. Meet on the track. Bring water or sports drink and a towel.
Wednesdays: Murphy-Candler Park at 6pm. Bring water or sports drink and a towel. Meet in
the parking lot across from the baseball field. 1551 W Nancy Creek Dr. NE, Atlanta 30319.
Thursdays: St. Pius X at 7am. Meet on the track. Bring water or sports drink and a towel.
Fridays: St. Pius at 7:30am. Meet on the track. Bring water or sports drink and a towel. Also,
Murphey-Candler at 6pm. Meet in the same area as Wednesdays.
A reminder: Runners CANNOT practice with the team unless a current physical is on file
Please note that attendance will be taken at all summer practices. Runners are to check in with
both a coach and a captain. Both a coach and a captain will record the attendance roster in her
phone. The 2016 Team Captains are: Dana Belville, Emily Davignon, Sabrina Guyton, Grace
Coach Guilbeau will have a medical kit for the summer. Please give her any inhalers and or Epi-Pens if you use these. For any sports medicine related questions, please email the Head AthleticTrainer Mr. Gary Schmitt at email@example.com. He will be on campus almost every weekday
Equipment for the summer includes: Running shoes, running clothes, and a sports watch.
Shoes should be purchased at a running specific store. Please visit a local running store, and run
in the different models as suggested by a trained employee. A running watch and/or a smart
watch are very important for runners to track their performance data.
Runners are to keep a running journal beginning 2 June. This would be a paper tablet or notebook. The following should be noted in the journal entry: Date, weather, mileage, pace, location of run, with team or on own, and finally how the runner felt during, and at conclusion of the run. Please bring your journals to the Tues and Thurs practices.
Summer Mileage: Runners are to answer these basic questions in an email.
