St. Pius X Golden Lions
Debbie Guilbeau, Head Girls Cross Country Coach
Coach Guilbeau is from Pennsylvania. She ran collegiate cross country at Duquesne University. She holds a BA in Political Science and Spanish from Duquesne, an MA in Spanish from the University of Tennessee and an Ed. S in Language Education from the University of Georgia. She is in her 21st season of coaching the St. Pius X Girls CC Team. During these seasons the team has won 3 state championships titles and 12 state runner-up titles. She has coached 5 girls to individual state championships. Several runners have continued on to heralded collegiate running careers at universities such as: Davidson, Villanova, Alabama, Dayton, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Elon, Furman, Regis, Clemson, Xavier, Samford, St. Mary's and Georgia College. Coach Guilbeau enjoys running, cross fit, swimming and cycling. Most of all she loves playing with her Pembroke Welsh Corgi named McCartney.
Rebecca Carpenter, Assistant Girls Cross Country Coach
Rebecca Carpenter is a USA Triathlon Certified Coach and elite age-group triathlete. She holds a MS degree in Engineering Management, and has worked in industry for over 20 years. As a triathlete, Rebecca is a 7 time Ironman Finisher with 6 podium finishes, including 2 age-group wins. She is also a 3 time Ironman Hawaii World Championship Finisher with a podium finish, and multiple age-group wins at Ironman 70.3 events. Rebecca broke female amateur course record at Ironman Louisville in 2009.
Ashley Curlette, Assistant Girls Cross Country Coach
Coach Curlette (SPX ’02) enters her 9th season with the Girls Cross Country program. While a student at St. Pius X, she was a member of the cross country team. Coach Curlette teaches journalism at St. Pius X and advises the yearbook, newspaper, and literary-art magazine Carpe Diem. She is an avid sports fan and especially enjoys cheering for the Atlanta Braves. Ashley has a two-year-old daughter, Emily, who loves spending time with the cross country team.
Kristin Kramer, Assistant Girls Cross Country Coach
Coach Kramer teaches and chairs the Social Studies Department. She began jogging (slowly) in high school with her parents, who have run the Peachtree Road Race over 30 times! Thanks to working with Coach Guilbeau and the Golden Lions Cross Country team a few years ago, she posted a personal record in the Atlanta Thanksgiving Half-Marathon and completed her first marathon in Los Angeles the following spring.
Sara Schmitt, Assistant Girls Cross Country Coach
Coach Geiger is a Samford University and Parkview High School graduate. She is also the St. Pius X Girls' Soccer Coach. She was a collegiate soccer player and swam, ran cross country, played basketball and soccer at Parkview. Coach Geiger’s soccer teams have won the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015 state championships! She teaches math, coaches in the summer strength program, and is in her 6th season with the cross country program.
