Senior Asia Durr Announces College Decision
September 9th, 2014
After narrowing her list of college prospects to five schools, senior Asia Durr announced on September 9 that she will attend the University of Louisville next year. She is the top-ranked prospect in the Class of 2015 and was named 2013-14 Georgia Gatorade Player of the Year.
Durr, the reigning Miss Georgia Basketball and two-time AAA Player of the Year, has led St. Pius X to the AAA State Championship in 2013 and 2014. In her three seasons as a Golden Lion, she has scored over 1800 points, grabbed 520 rebounds, dished out 186 assists as well as recorded 219 steals and 57 blocks. She has twice been named to the all-state first team by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Georgia Athletic Coaches Association and Georgia Sportswriters Association, respectively. Durr was also one of only two juniors to be selected to the American Family Insurance All-USA Today first team girls basketball team in 2014.
In addition to her time at St. Pius X, she has also represented the United States on the U16 and U17 national teams. In June of 2013, Durr led the U16 USA team to the gold medal at the FIBA Americas Cup and was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament. Earlier this summer, she won another gold medal with the U17 team in the FIBA World Championships.
According to Head Girls' Basketball Coach Kyle Snipes, "In Asia, Louisville is getting a tireless worker both on the court and in the classroom. She's a student-athlete with an acute attention to detail relative to her approach to practice and games and as a humble a person as I have had the opportunity to coach."
Congratulations to Asia and we look forward to hearing of her success next year with the Cardinals!
